1. Francisco Garibay Ordination
Sunday, September 12, 11:15 a.m., Chapel
Join us as we ordain Francisco as Assistant Pastor for Grace en Espanol, and celebrate him during the Grace en Espanol worship service on Sunday morning. Francisco joined Grace in 2002 and began a bible study in his home with co-workers. In 2004 that group became the church plant for Grace en Espanol and moved to the Well, then to the Chapel. While working professionally full-time, directing Grace en Espanol part-time, caring for his family and attending Fuller Seminary, he also has made multiple mission trips to Guatemala starting four congregations and physically building two churches. We are blessed to have him as an Elder at Grace and as the foundation and soon to be Assistant Pastor of Grace en Espanol. Congratulations and well done, Francisco!

2. Grace Worship Nights

Monthly Sunday Evening Worship and Potluck Dinner
September 12, in the Chapel
5:00 p.m. Worship, 6:00 p.m. Potluck Dinner
Worship - In the Beatitudes, Jesus offers us a vision of how to embrace the kingdom of God and invites us into practices for living a life of faith in the world. Over the next nine months we invite you to join us on this journey of worship as we look at how these teachings of Jesus form us as followers of Christ through the words, postures, and practices of Jesus himself. Note that this worship service will be completely different content from the Sunday morning series on Romans.
Food - Following worship will be a potluck dinner in Massey Tucker Hall. In September, Grace will provide the main course – pulled pork, buns, onions, and pickles. Please bring a side dish or dessert that is enough to feed your family plus four more. Just drop your goodies in MTH prior to worship then we’ll enjoy after worship.
Childcare will be available, please contact Julie Clark with the names and ages of your children.

3. New Epic Courses Coming Sept 12

Yes, you are a disciple! Someone who follows Christ, is being transformed by Christ, and engages in the mission of Christ is a disciple. Someone who is rooted in Christ and experiences His deep love. God doesn’t just call the equipped, he equips those who are called, no matter where you are in your journey.
This semester there are two course options to best fit your spiritual growth as a disciple:
- The Biblical/Theological Track will focus on a course that helps us define what we believe and why.
- Course Title: Hard Questions-Hard Conversations (Part A)
- Description: Ever find yourself in a difficult Christianity conversation? This course will explore 6 issues that might cause someone to dismiss Christianity. We’ll have conversations about the best research from sociology, science, and psychology that doesn't disagree with but actually aligns with claims found in the Bible. This course will help us understand these issues and how to discuss them with people that disagree with us.
Location: Massey Tucker Hall 201

- The Transformational Track will focus on a course that helps transform us to grow more fully in Christ. Topics will range from spiritual practices to parenting and money.
- Course Title: One Breath at a Time: A Skeptic's Guide to Christian Meditation
- Description: This course will reframe meditation for those who are skeptical because (1) they doubt their ability to be still and quiet and (2) they doubt the validity of meditation as a Christian spiritual practice. Using scripture, theology, and examples from the early church, this course looks at the prayer habits of Christians that leave little room for enough silence to experience and listen for God. Using five approaches, this class will help you begin and sustain a Christian meditation practice in an often chaotic world.
