Join in the Fun
When was the last time you thought about the trunk of your car? Better yet, when did you last take an inventory of the contents of your trunk? The truth is, the trunk is often overlooked and under appreciated, and I think it is time we recognize their significance. I have great news! On October 27, you have an opportunity to not only encourage your trunk but also to recognize its importance.
Grace’s annual Trunk or Treat is Sunday October 27, 4:30 - 6 p.m. in the Grace parking lot by the athletic fields. Now, I know that some of you may be thinking, “How does Trunk or Treat encourage or bring significance?” Well, as we continue to live to make Jesus visible, we do so in a variety of ways. Trunk or Treat presents an opportunity for us to practice hospitality, not only to the Grace family but also to families who may not yet be part of Grace. We will have opportunities to visit with one another, enjoy the many costumes, and share the joy of the Lord.
Consider these words, “Every day this week you have to decide if you want to achieve your life or receive it. If you make achieving your goal, your constant companion will be complaint, because you will never achieve enough. If you make receiving the goal, your constant companion will be gratitude for all that God is achieving in your life” (Craig Barnes).
I have always loved the phrase, “join in the fun.” It is such an inviting phrase. But also, as any invitation does, it requires a response. However, “joining in,” is not a posture of achieving as much as it is about receiving.
I hope you will choose to “join in the fun” on Sunday evening at Trunk or Treat.
In the meantime, know that I am so thankful for you. I hope you will never forget that God is, in fact, achieving many things in and through your life.
Peace,
Trey
P.S — Please help Children’s Ministries by registering your trunk or ordering your dinner TODAY: www.gpch.org/trunk/.
