A Little Thought
"Remember in November"
How is your memory? The older I get the more I seem to forget. However, as a lifelong follower of the Houston Astros—it will be difficult for me to forget this incredible season! It just feels so surreal that the Houston Astros are World Series Champs. The only regret I have is not buying a mattress from Gallery Furniture—if I had, it would now be free.
In the Bible we are repeatedly told to remember. Consider Hebrews 2:1 that says, “We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift way.” Remember! Or Exodus 14:13-14 that says: “Moses answered the people, ‘Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Remember!
I am absolutely convinced we need to remember more. Therefore, I would like to challenge you to “Remember in November.” I encourage you to spend some time each day in November, remembering the promises of the Lord in and over your life. Remember that He has a plan for your life. Remember to be still and know that He is God. Remember that He gave His life for your redemption. Remember the blessings He has poured into your life; family, friends, your Grace family, sunsets and sunrises, laughter and tears. Remember that He is not finished with you yet. Remember, remember, remember.
I recently read a quote from Archbishop Oscar Romero, a quote that I think encourages us to step back, every now and then, and take a long view. He wrote, “The kingdom is not only beyond our efforts, it is even beyond our vision. We accomplish in our lifetime only a tiny fraction of the magnificent enterprise that is God’s work. Nothing we do is complete, which is a way of saying that the kingdom always lies beyond us. No statement says all that could be said. No prayer fully expresses our faith. No confession brings perfection. No pastoral visit brings wholeness. No program accomplishes the church’s mission. No set of goals and objectives includes everything.
This is what we are about. We plant the seeds that one day will grow. We water seeds already planted, knowing that they hold future promise. We lay foundations that will need further development. We provide yeast that produces far beyond our capabilities.
We cannot do everything, and there is a sense of liberation in realizing that. This enables us to do something, and to do it very well. It may be incomplete, but it is a beginning, a step along the way, an opportunity for the Lord’s grace to enter and do the rest. We may never see the end results, but that is the difference between the Master Builder and the worker. We are the workers, not Master Builders; ministers, not Messiahs. We are prophets of a future not our own. AMEN.”
Remember!
Peace,
Trey

Harvey Relief Weekly Update
Grace remains committed to walking alongside individuals and families through their long recovery process.
Here's how you can respond in the coming week:
- Utilize the Relief List website.
Relief List is a tool to facilitate a way for people to communicate their needs and for others to meet them. Please visit the Grace website to connect to the Relief List page or please visit: relieflist.com/gpch.
- Keep Praying. Keep Encouraging. Keep Supporting.
This week, we encourage you to pray for families making tough decisions about rebuilding, relocating, or restoring. The gift of an encouraging word, a fervent prayer, a homemade meal, a thoughtful card can make the world of difference to our friends in the midst of this long-term recovery process. An Opportunity to Make Jesus Visible
Is your time limited during the week? Why not consider making Jesus visible by serving as an usher during the church service you attend? Consider our visitors who have been impacted by Harvey - many times an usher is the first one they encounter when they come to worship. Ushering is a great way to meet the people who worship with you; see the folks you haven't seen for a while; or just share your joy for being in worship. Men and women are invited to serve as ushers for any of the worship services. No experience necessary; we will train you. If you would like to help out or just find out what is required, please contact either Phil Grant philsgrant@aim.com or Harold Silver silver@txun.net.
