Memorable Vacation
As we rapidly approach the end of June, we seem to be simultaneously approaching the beginning of the vacation season. Perhaps you have noticed people absent from your office or from the pews at church. Perhaps you have wondered where your neighbors have been or why traffic seems lighter on your way to work each morning. Perhaps you are reading this from a vacation destination.
Someone once said, “A vacation makes you feel good enough to return to work—and so poor you have to.”
There is a lot of truth in that statement. However, my hope this vacation season is that you will do all you can to make it memorable. Don’t just go somewhere this summer with your family—but also BE with your family. Perhaps you will be traveling alone this summer—what will you do during your time away that will create lasting memories for you? Memories matter—they are gifts that we can open over and over again to remind us we are blessed.
Also, make sure that you take care of yourself—give yourself the gift of rest and relaxation. I encourage you to refrain from taking a vacation from your spiritual life. You see, as your pastor I firmly believe that your spiritual growth and direction is my business. And, quite frankly, there is nothing in this world that says you have to be here at Grace—or that you have to walk with the Risen Lord—or that you should desire more than anything to grow spiritually. But consider this—one day, perhaps sooner rather than later, the Lord is going to hold us accountable for our lives on this earth. How are you creating memories with your Lord?
Finally, I want to once again extend an invitation to you for what is sure to be a memorable vacation. Not only will we see breathtaking views, but we will also have the opportunity to walk where Jesus walked. Undoubtedly this vacation will shape your faith journey in ways you may have never considered. Just a reminder that I am leading a trip to the Holy Land, December 28, 2018-January 6, 2019. I would love for you to join me! Please take time over the next several weeks to learn more about the trip and to sign up. (Click here to find more information and to sign up).
I pray traveling mercies for you, wherever your travels may take you in the coming weeks. Remember that you are loved and missed while you are away, but you are never forgotten.
Peace,
Trey
