1. School Supplies-Donate Now!

Deadline is August 15

It is never too early to think about the upcoming Back to School season and our partnership with Walnut Bend Elementary.  This year we will be collecting backpacks and school supplies and donating them during our Immunization Clinic with the school.  There are two ways you can serve now through August 15:

1. Drop school supplies at the white donation bins near the Welcome Center during normal church hours or Sunday
2. Click HERE for our Amazon School Supply Wish List and have the items delivered directly to Grace.

Be a blessing and brighten up the school year for kids and families. Please shop for the following items:

2. Summer Worship Night + Family, Fun and Fundraising

Sunday, August 22 with love from Women of Grace and Family Ministries 

We invite you to join us for some end-of-summer fun and worship!

3:00-5:00 p.m. Snow cones in the Courtyard, inflatables in Massey Tucker Hall and shopping for summer goodies in the Narthex. All sales will benefit Grace Student Missions, come find out more about what they are doing and how you can help.

5:00-6:00 p.m. Worship in the Welcome Center. It's a more informal time at church and all are welcome so invite a co-worker, friend, or neighbor and come worship with us!

3. State of Grace

Sunday, August 29, 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary

Join us for our next State of Grace in the Sanctuary after worship. Pastor Julia will be updating the congregation on church plans as we look towards fall, our financial status and more. There will be no equipping hour for adults, but there will be Sunday School and childcare.

Staff News

Welcome Kristy Elmore who has accepted the position of Director of Mobilization and Mission Partners. Starting on August 16, Kristy will be working with Friends of Westchase and all our mission partners. She comes to us from CanCare where she was their Director of Outreach. Prior to that her work experience includes other non-profits and churches where she often focused on building, developing, and cultivating relationships with community partners and volunteer teams. She and her husband are Grace members, and they have two boys who attend Grace School. Her office is on the third floor, please welcome her there or in worship on Sundays.

Welcome officially to Johneice Haney! While Children’s Ministries initially asked Johneice to join the team on an interim basis mid June, she said “yes” to becoming an official (not interim) Children’s Ministry Associate last week.  Johneice hit the ground running prior to VBS and has made such an impact to our Children’s Ministry in the short time she has been with us!  Johneice, her husband and son are members of Grace. You can find her office on the second floor or in all the kid places on Sunday mornings!

Congratulations Hardie Morgan! The City of Houston proclaimed August 1, 2021 “Hardie Morgan Day.” (He didn’t tell anyone on staff until August 3!) Nominated by District G City Council Member Greg Travis, Hardie was recognized for his generous volunteer efforts both individually and on non-profit boards for the betterment of the City of Houston.

Family Ministries Combined Office

Looking for our Student Ministries Associates? Student and Children Ministries are now located together as a Family Ministry area in what had been the Children’s Ministry offices. You can find them on the MTH second floor, straight down the hall as you exit the elevators.

Communication Note

On Tuesday, August 10 we will transferring our church database to a data storage environment. As a result, parts of our church website, including online giving and registrations, will not be operable during the transition period on Tuesday.

Financial Update

• 2021 Collections Goal - $3,650,000
• Actual 2021 Collections to Date - $1,735,017
• Amount Needed Prior to Year End - $1,914,983

We are 58 percent through 2021 and have collected 48 percent of our goal. This puts us $424,983 behind our goal to date.
